End of Semester Notes
Lakeridge will be following a special schedule for the final week of the semester to allow for longer periods of time for teachers and students to use for a variety of objectives. Our staff understands that absences and the pandemic have impacted our learning community again, and while different teachers have different approaches and objectives in their courses, we are unified in our understanding that we need to accommodate and adjust for the level of absence we have seen this month. They will then be using the final week's special schedule time to allow students to make up for missed work, redo assignments for credit or engage in extra credit opportunities and review for the end of unit tests which they will give during that time as well. Some teachers are having students engage in performance tasks that they have begun during the weeks leading up to the final week and will then culminate in an essay, speech or public presentation. Many teachers are having students do group activities for a culminating task so those that have been away can have the support of their peers to participate in the task without having to carry the demonstration of learning on their own.
Rest assured that the teachers are taking great care with their plans for the end of the semester and are working with your students to help catch them up, prepare them to finish strong, and set them up for a positive start to second semester.
If you have questions about your student's end-of-term activities please reach out to the teacher, counselor, Ms. Fisher or Mr. Hurd. Please go to this link to print the change form if you need to move some of your sessions around for that final week of the semester.
